Peran Pengasuh Panti Asuhan dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Pelajaran Akidah Akhlak Santri Panti Asuhan Daarul Aitam Bontang

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify and evaluate the contributions of caregivers at the Daarul Aitam Orphanage in Bontang in efforts to improve the quality of Akidah Akhlak (Faith and Morals) learning for the students. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that caregivers play a strategic role as educators, mentors, motivators, and trainers in shaping the character and spirituality of the students. Efforts to enhance the quality of Akidah Akhlak learning include the use of contextual learning methods, instilling moral values in daily life, utilizing creative learning media such as animated videos, and providing life skills training to support student independence. Further analysis indicates that despite various challenges—such as low learning motivation among some students, limited facilities and infrastructure, and difficulties in implementing online learning—the caregivers consistently demonstrate high levels of commitment and dedication. They serve not only as instructors but also as role models in attitude and behavior. Thus, it can be concluded that the role of caregivers is crucial and significantly influences the improvement of Akidah Akhlak learning quality in the orphanage setting. This study is expected to serve as a reference for religious education management in similar institutions.
